A hot-wedge geomembrane welding machine
The SIGMA geomembrane welding machine delivers high welding power, fast welding speed and good weld quality. The machine has stable performance, convenient operation, high welding efficiency and high reliability. It is widely used in tunnels, subways, water conservancy, aquaculture, landfill, chemical mining, sewage treatment, roofing and other industries on waterproof anti-seepage projects — joining geomembrane sheet into a continuous, watertight seam.
Built for HDPE liner installation
As an HDPE liner welding machine, the hot wedge welder is the primary tool for seaming our HDPE geomembrane and pond liner in the field. The self-propelled wedge welder runs along the overlap and fuses the sheets with a dual-track weld, leaving an air-testable channel between the tracks so seam integrity can be verified on site. It pairs naturally with the rest of our geomembrane range.
How the hot wedge welder operates on site
In use the machine is the simplest part of the seam. The two sheets are overlapped along the seam line, the self-propelled welder is set on the overlap, and it drives itself forward while a heated wedge fuses the upper and lower membranes together. Because it is self-propelled and produces a uniform dual-track weld, hdpe geomembrane welding is fast, consistent and far less operator-dependent than hand work. The channel left between the two weld tracks is sealed at the ends and pressurised with air, so the crew can confirm seam integrity on site without cutting the weld. The result is the high welding efficiency and good weld quality the machine is built for.
Industries and projects it serves
A hot wedge welding machine is the workhorse of large lining jobs. It is widely used in tunnels, subways, water conservancy, aquaculture, landfill, chemical mining, sewage treatment, roofing and other waterproof anti-seepage projects, joining geomembrane sheet into a continuous, watertight barrier. The same machine works as a pond liner welding machine on aquaculture and irrigation basins and as a dam liner welding machine on water-retaining structures, so a single hdpe liner welding machine covers most of the field seaming on a project. For the membrane itself, see our HDPE geomembrane and pond liner.
Choosing a welder for the job
Match the geomembrane welder to the liner material, thickness and project conditions. A hot-wedge welder handles long production seams quickly, while geomembrane glue and extrusion methods cover details, penetrations and repairs the wedge cannot reach. Buyers comparing a hot wedge welding machine against brands such as a Leister wedge welder should weigh weld speed, power and on-site reliability; full ratings for the SIGMA machine are issued on request. For the consumable side of installation, see our installation equipment; the welder and the glue together complete a watertight liner system.
